After reading Mikhail Bulgakov’s Master and Margarita in Russian or
English, Russian Language Academy students gathered to discuss the novel. Everyone supported the premise that it is one
of the best 20th century novels and a great Soviet satire.
Students read favorite passages in Russian, shared their opinions and
insights into the juxtaposition of Pontius Pilate, the Devil and Soviet Moscow. Bulgakov put many years of his life into Master and Margarita. There was a lot to discuss.
Russian literature is a major motivation to study Russian at the
Russian Language Academy.
